Blog 10: Evaluation of your blogging experience

Hi everyone
About My experience in the blogs I must say that it was very interesting. I show my opinion about different topics and I could read about the opinion of my classmates. About the topic there’s some very interesting like “My favorite piece of technology” or “An expert on your subject”.

I feel that I can write now more fluid. I can write big paragraph easily and put into words all I think about a topic in concrete. The different topic gives me each a vocabulary specific so I can write about more things than the beginning of semester.

In the future may be interesting do YouTube videos and combine with the blogs so you can practice the speaking and the writing. Also, the YouTube’s videos are more contingent than the Blogs but anyway make me feel nostalgic hahaha.

I would like to write about pets because I love pets, hamsters, dogs, cats, everyone. So, I can share a picture of my dog. Also, I would like to write about other contingent topic because I like to read what people think about social, political or economic topic and I like to share my opinion too.

                It is my last Blog.

                                                                                                              See ya!

Blog 8: A subject you have enjoyed studying this semester

Hi everyone

Today I’m going to talk about a subject that I enjoy a lot studying this semester, “Principios de Habitabilidad y sustentabilidad”.

In it subject at beginning we learnt about the weather zones of Chile and the principal materials that are used in each zone. Exist a norm that divide the country and give you information of the zone, it give you the material recommended for building. We study a traditional house from one zone and identified the aspect from the norm in our case of study.

After that, come the more funny part of the subject. We learnt about thermal efficiency and we have to design a solution that help to save energy and take advantage of energy of environment, like solar energy.

We learnt too about natural illumination. We have to design a space and light up naturally. After that we have to calculate whit an instrument the quantity of light in the space and accord to it determinate the use that the space could have according to the Chilean norm.

I like it subject because we learnt to design using the energy and conditions of the environment. This way we help to decontaminate the planet through the architecture.

Expert on Architecture - Alejandro Aravena

Alejandro Aravena is a Chilean architect from the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile. He's actually 49 years old and last year he was awarded the Pritzker Architecture Prize, It's like the nobel of architecture.

Their more famous works are the Torres Siamesas and the Center of innovation Anacleto Angelini both in the Campus San Joaquin of the UC. Other works are the social housing but not like the other. Aravena thinks that people must have the opportunity of make changes in their houses so he build it with the possibility of expansion with the own resources from families. He thought that a house is a inversion and it isn’t a spending social. He uses good materials for the building in return of a house "incomplete" or not so big. But at least people make expansions and complete the house according to their needs

That is because I admire to Arevena. He thinks of a different form that is innovative and sustainable, and I think that it form of  thinking is currently necessary.

A photograph you like

This photo was taken last holidays on La Serena, in a travel with the Tuna Universitaria of the University of Chile, It was a special day for me because that day I received my Tuna’s suit. The picture was taken by a person who was passing around the plaza. In the photo we appear before the ”pasacalles”.
It was a sunny day and we share with tunas from Colombia, Mexico and Chile. We were the first group in the pasacalles so we were the front line. I was a little nervous about it but when I saw the good reception of people I felt better. We started with classic repertoire of tuna but we finished with Cumbia. It was weird but fun and people like it.

I like it picture because it was the last time without my suit of Tuna so I have a special feeling with it. From here I feel more part of the tuna and it is a point important in my life.

Jimmy's Hall Review

Hi everyone,
I'll give your my opinion about Jimmy's Hall

In general terms, the movie is good, you can feel the atmosphere of this age, see the landscape from Ireland, it show the customs and how enter news cultures and reaction of people about it. I like the politics and religion conflicts showed in the film, because it really happened. Anyway, there’s a lot of dead times and it was a little tiresome.

My favorite character was Jimmy. He is a good guy, he want to help the world, but it wasn’t easy, he was able to change the mind of the people, he made him more happies.

The best of the film was the Irish music and the Jazz, I really like it

My favorite scene is when the hall burn down, because the building was very important in the film, the building gather the people. It was a symbol of freedom. And when it burn down, the people leave the building and receive the true freedom.

That’s in summary.

My favorite piece of technology - My Notebook

Hi everyone!

My favorite piece of technology is my Notebook. I've had it since 2013, I bought it for the university with a grant of the state. I use it to play, to watch movies, to do homework, to listen music and to edit photos and videos. I use it every day, I can't live without it. It like to me because it's fast, I can put it in my backpack, and it have good features. It have the potency of a PC in a Notebook. In my house I use it with an external keyboard and mouse, because I like the competitive games. In the university I use it a lot when we have group works. When I go to Temuco, where live a friend, I pack the notebook and the peripheral devices, because he play games with me.

If I don’t have my notebook, I think my life would be a little harder and bored.

Why did I choose architecture?

Hi everyone

When I was 12 years old, I watched a lot of CSI, so I wanted to be a forensic scientist and to work on murder cases, but after a time I left it idea. After that when I was 14 I wanted to be a odontologist, I didn't like it at all, It was just for money $$.  When I was 16, I realized that I'm very good on math, so I started to study a lot of it.

When I had to choose one career, I wasn't sure about what career, so I entered to "Bachillerato" in the University of Chile. There I took engineering subjects but I didn't like it. So I left "Bachi".

After that I thought for six months about a career and my conclution was Architecture, because it combine a lot of things that I love, like math, art, social topics, etc. I has been one year in the career, and I don’t regret about it.
